GECC’S MEMORABLE MOMENTS

Seniors Graduation Ceremony

May 2019

We celebrate our graduating seniors with a formal graduation ceremony. The purpose of this event is to give the graduates a sense of accomplishment at the culmination of their time spent in Jack and Jill. Each senior reflects on what the Jack and Jill experience has meant to them and tells the audience where they will matriculate in the fall and what they hope to achieve in their academic and future professional careers.

Black History Month

February 2019

Each year in honor of Black History Month, the GECC Fathers’ Auxiliary strives to bring quality programming which highlights African American history and its relevance today. This year’s theme was “Reflections on History and the Black Experience in America.” The Fathers’ Auxiliary hosted a facilitated “fireside chat” with guest speaker and J&J father, Dr. Khalil G. Muhammad, author and Professor of African American Studies at Harvard University. He was joined by moderator and J&J GECC father, Mr. Jonathan Simon, Executive Director-Head of Student Strategy, Advancing Black Leaders for JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Black History Month

February 2018

Once again, the GECC Fathers’ Auxiliary created and executed an amazing  program in observance of Black History Month. This year’s theme was “Stay Woke”, a phrase often associated  with  social  movements addressing social injustices against the African- American community.  The Fathers’ Auxiliary focused on the meaning of the phrase from a  perspective of “Being Aware” and the importance of knowing our history and the contributions made by those that came before us.
