GECC in DC for HBCU Month - October 2019

For HBCU month, Groups D(3RD-4TH)+ E(5TH-6TH)  combined for a trip down to our nation’s capital to learn about HBCU and Black Greek Culture. During the bus ride down the children participate in an HBCU fact quiz. Once arriving, they had a day full of cultural lessons including tasting cuisines from each region at the Sweet Home (NMAAHC) restaurant, a guided tour of a portion of the museum, a Step Afrika workshop where they learned about the history of stepping and the Black Greek Culture and HBCUs, and a step exhibition with members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity where they shared how being a member of a Black Greek Letter Organization enhanced their lives
